Need a set of war game rules for your range of miniatures? Well, now through River Horse you can hire a team of experts supervised by Origins awards winner Alessio Cavatore.

How is this going to work?

1) First meeting

Normally this kind of collaboration will begin with a friendly chat, whether it is in person (for UK-based customers) or through a skype video-conference (rest of the world).

During this first meeting, we will discuss with you your requirements. Expect to be bombarded with questions, beginning with your company’s business model and commercial needs, up to the high-level design characteristics you envisage your game to have.

Once this assessment is done, Alessio will decide whether he thinks River Horse can help your company or not. If so, we move to the second stage.

2) Your commission

At this stage you will be presented with a series of options about the project, ranging from a short consultancy to a completely manufactured book. These options are summarised in the chart below:

Editing or new edition of existing system            Designing new system

Design Consultancy        We will familiarize ourselves with your system and then talk to your designers and management about how to achieve the results you are after (better rules system, more effective support of your business model/commercial needs, etc.).              We will examine your case and then write up a document illustrating the high-level principles we think your new system should have in order to achieve the results you are after (beating competition’s rules systems, best support of your business model/commercial needs, etc.).

Manuscript         River Horse will provide you, on time and within budget with a simple text manuscript (Microsoft Word), including any relevant diagrams.             River Horse will provide you, on time and within budget with a simple text manuscript (Microsoft Word), including any relevant diagrams.

Ready-to-print files        River Horse will provide you, on time and within budget with a finished document (pdf or Adobe Indesign, as requested), including all lay-out work, artwork, photography (you supply the pained models, components, etc). This document will be ready to be sent to a printer or published directly on the web.         River Horse will provide you, on time and within budget with a finished document (pdf or Adobe Indesign, as requested), including all lay-out work, artwork, photography (you supply the pained models, components, etc). Finished book   River Horse will deliver, on time and within budget a finished rulebook or supplement to your warehouse, anywhere in the world. It’s as simple as that.           River Horse will deliver, on time and within budget a finished rulebook or supplement to your warehouse, anywhere in the world. It’s as simple as that.

3) Payment

Once you have taken your pick from the chart above, it is time to discuss how you prefer to pay.

In general, if you want to retain 100% of the ownership of the product, we’ll simply charge you a flat fee and the game is all yours. And you can still use Alessio’s bankable name!

Alternatively, if you are prepared to share ownership of the product, we can reduce our fee in exchange for royalties, or take some of the fee as an advance on royalties, or some other form of agreement (many ways of skinning that cat…).

4) After-care

As well as a one-off project, you can also hire River Horse to provide a constant support service for your system, in the form of articles, expansions, tournament systems and packs, POS, etc.

Feel free to discuss this with us during the early stages of the project.
